Karate Club Inspiration!

Mrs Slater's son, Lewis, has recently competed in the WUKF world championships in Poland and was awarded a bronxe medal for the individual fighting competition and a silver medal in the team fighting competition.

Date to remember: November 18th, Parents Evening

Parents' evening will held on Tuesday 18th November so that you can have an opportunity to speak to your child's/children's class teacher to gain feedback on their progress, discuss their attendance, punctuality and behaviour. Could you please complete the slip on the letter sent home yesterday and return to school as soon as possible to request an appointment.

Appointment will be 5 minutes in length. You are welcome to make an additional appointment if you feel you would like a longer meeting with the class teacher. Appointments will start from 3:45pm to allow time for children to be collected from school as usual at 3.30pm. Appointments will be allocated on a first come first served basis as near to the time you request as possible.



'Black History Month' Sharing Assemblies

To conclude our theme week, we held two outstanding sharing assemblies to showcase all the fabulous work that has taken place this week in school!

'Black History Month' Celebrations

Throughout the week the children have learnt about different countries in Africa. On Wednesday and Thursday the Afrik Entertainment Company came into school, the children had the opportunity to take part in singing and dancing, tie-dying and African story-telling workshops.

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon Success!

On Monday 13th October, our 'Macmillan Coffee Afternoon' was a fantastic success!

Thank you to all the families who joined us and enjoyed the lovely treats on offer.

Overall, we raised a tremendous £140 for Macmillan!

Year 5's visit from the Firefighters!

On Thursday 9th October, Year 5 had a very interesting and exciting visit from two Firefighters from Gorton Fire Services. The team shared their expert advice about keeping ourselves safe during our celebrations for Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Tina Nguyen (Y5) " I thought that the Firefighters were phenomenal because they can help people to stay safe over the holidays coming soon!"

Kevin Chinthati (Y5) "When they came they showed us all of their tools that they use for their missions to keep people safe from fires. I thought that the helmets were fascinating!"

Salome Pascoe (Y5) "It was so fun! They helped us to learn how to be very safe on Halloween and Bonfire Night. I even had a race against one of the Firemen to get dressed in our firefighting uniform and I won!"

Lawand Kader (Y5) "I was really excited and I liked how they were here to teach us about our safety outside school. I enjoyed it and everyone was really happy!"



Karate Club!

Year 3 have been working really hard in Karate Club, their spirit and enthusiasm is enlightening and wonderful to see!

Harvest Assembly

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the families who contributed towards the very generous donations for Cornerstone, Manchester!

Fr Ian led two wonderful assemblies yesterday, sharing the fantastic work of Cornerstone and the impact your generosity will have. He also created a brilliant opportunity for us to refelect on our lives and thank those who have contributed in producing the food we eat each day.

of St John Chrysostom,it are at the heart of our community in south Manchester, 
not far from the city centre and close to Manchester University.
